facing issue in sha512 self - signed certificate

Hi Openssl,

I'm creating sha512 self signed certificate for establishing connection
between client and server(nginx server).
creating separate key, cert for server and root cert for client.
below is the link i followed for cert creation:

Issue faced :
There's no connection established and we cross-checked error log in server
no error observed.

Openssl version : OpenSSL 1.0.1f 6 Jan 2014

nginx version: nginx/1.4.6 (Ubuntu)

OS version

No LSB modules are available.

Distributor ID:    Ubuntu

Description:        Ubuntu 14.04.5 LTS

Release:               14.04

Codename:        trusty


is there any link or commands to follow while creating cert for sha512. ?
