Like some others who replied, I think it's a bad idea to close the
mailing list.
The github pages are fine to discuss potential problems, ask for new
features, etc.
However, a ML is IMO better to ask questions about the usage of the
software, and get replies from the community *or* from the maintainers,
if appropriate.
