mailing list vs github

[Kenneth Goldman]

Someone suggested that I subscribe to github because the mailing list might
disappear.

However, when I subscribed, I'm getting all the development mailing list
alerts, apparently hundreds per day,. Can I subscribe to just discussions
and not development?
