Status of the openssl-users mailing list

Dear openssl-users community,

We have received a large amount of feedback on the possible closure of the
openssl-users list. We found this feedback to be very valuable, and based on
this feedback, we have concluded that we should not close the openssl-users
list at this time.

Our motivation in posing this question was the concern that the existence of
both the openssl-users list and GitHub issues effectively fractures the
community of people asking and answering questions about OpenSSL. Our intention
is to determine how we can better serve the needs of people asking and
answering questions about OpenSSL.

However, based on the feedback we received, we don't believe that simply
closing the list would improve this situation. Instead, we intend to engage
further with the community to determine how to better meet the needs of OpenSSL
users in this regard in future.
