Strange. The alpha1 release was flawless and the beta1 claims :

This is on a Gentoo Linux server. Actually it is Itanium IA64 hardware.
The real thing.

In any case the testsuite is running but thus far the above has failed
strangely whereas the alpha1 stuff was flawless. Very strange.
