On related note, similar problem was reported earlier, see for example
https://mta.openssl.org/pipermail/openssl-dev/2015-June/001768.html, but
fix was not applied at that time. It will be this time. Key question is
not what does gcc -Wa,-v ...' print, but
<my_path_to_cross_compiler>/bin/gcc.
