Raised but there's no resolution.

I don't think there's much value in suggesting additional fixes for this problem, as the
reasons for it existing are poorly defined, as are the reasons for rejecting my initial
suggestions.

If you guys could come up with a fix internally that didn't involve generating spurious
warnings any time these functions are called from application code, it'd be much
appreciated.
